Intent
At St Teresa’s Primary School, the Catholic faith underpins every aspect of the curriculum and is at the centre of our learning. Children are actively encouraged to ‘Build God’s Kingdom’ through living out Gospel values, Catholic Social Teaching, and British Values in their daily lives.
At St Teresa’s, our PSHE and RSE curriculum is delivered through one cohesive, carefully planned approach that is tailored to meet the needs of our pupils. Drawing upon Ten:Ten Life to the Full, PSHE Association resources, themed assemblies, enrichment opportunities, and a wide range of personal development experiences, our curriculum provides a broad, balanced, and faith-centred education that supports every child’s spiritual, moral, social, emotional, and physical development.
Our curriculum is designed to nurture the whole child, ensuring pupils develop spiritually, morally, socially, emotionally, and physically from Early Years through to Year 6. Through this integrated approach, children gain the knowledge, understanding, and skills needed to manage their lives confidently now and in the future, while developing as compassionate, informed members of society.
Our curriculum is structured around six key areas:

This broad and balanced curriculum ensures all statutory Relationships Education and Health Education requirements are met, while remaining rooted firmly in Catholic teaching and the mission of our school.
Implementation
Our curriculum is delivered through a combination of:
· Weekly PSHE/RSE lessons using Ten:Ten Life to the Full and PSHE Association resources
· Key stage, class and whole school themed assemblies focused on key personal development themes
· Adaptable content tailored to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with SEND, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for every child
· Responsive teaching to address specific cohort needs, current issues, or pastoral circumstances
· Catholic Social Teaching and Gospel Values embedded throughout learning
· British Values education integrated across school life
· Cross-curricular links with RE, science, computing, and wider subjects
· Themed weeks, enrichment days, and awareness campaigns
· Enrichment opportunities, including specialist visitors, workshops, clubs, and wider curriculum experiences such as Forest School, chess clubs, and external specialist-led sessions that enhance personal development beyond the classroom

Faith-Centred Foundation
At St Teresa’s, Relationships and Sex Education is guided by the Catholic Church’s teachings on the dignity and worth of every human person. Age-appropriate learning about relationships, family life, and personal development is always framed within the belief that each individual is created in God’s image and likeness.
We adhere to the guidance of Salford Diocese, ensuring that our curriculum supports pupils’ spiritual, moral, social, cultural, mental, and physical development. Grounded in Gospel Values, Catholic Social Teaching, and aligned with British Values, our curriculum prepares children for the opportunities and challenges of modern life with a strong moral, ethical, and faith-filled foundation.
Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) at St. Teresa’s is delivered through the ‘Ten:Ten Life to the Full’ scheme recommended by Salford Diocese. This scheme is designed as a progressive curriculum from EYFS to Year 6, teaching RSE within the context of a Christian understanding of human sexuality rooted in the wisdom and teachings of the Catholic Church. While school staff are primarily responsible for delivering the scheme, external agencies and healthcare professionals may also contribute, ensuring alignment with our school ethos and the Church’s teachings.

Our RSE Subject Lead is Miss S Gibbons.
Alongside our PSHE sessions and our RE and Science lessons, we have adopted Life to the Full by Ten Ten Resources to enhance and support the children with their RSE learning. Ten Ten is an award-winning Catholic educational organisation that is well-respected and very experienced in this field of work. Life to the Full has been approved by our diocese. Furthermore, Ten Ten have entered into a partnership with the Catholic Education Service and the Department for Education to provide training for teachers in Catholic schools on the subject of the new statutory curriculum. Therefore, we are confident that this programme is a very good fit for our school.
Through their programme, Ten Ten understand the foundational role that parents have in educating and nurturing their children on these matters. Within the programme, they have built in resources which will not only keep you informed about what is being taught in school, but will also give you the opportunity to engage your children in discussion, activity and prayer.
