Starting Nursery
During the summer term the children will attend a morning session with their parents to meet the staff and their classmates.
In September, your child will be settled in over a period of a few weeks.
The children will initially be on a part time basis either a morning or an afternoon session, this allows the staff to get to know the children and help them to adapt to our nursery routines in the most effective way. Parents will be informed in advance when your child will stay for the full day and the hours will be 8.55am-3.25pm.
Starting Reception
If your child hasn’t attended our Nursery, then during the summer term they will be invited to have some transition sessions in Reception. This is to enable the staff to get to know your child and help the settling in process.
Learning Journeys
Each child’s successes will be documented in their own learning journey book, which consists of the child’s work, pupil voice and comments. Parents will be invited to share their child’s learning journey book with their child at the end of each half term and write a message to their child.
School Uniform
Children are required to wear school uniform and the co-operation of parents is appreciated in this.
It is a great help if all items of clothing are clearly marked with your child’s name.
Our uniform consists of:
- grey trousers /skirt / pinafore
- grey shorts
- blue & white checked summer dress (optional)
- pale blue polo shirt
- navy blue jumper or cardigan
- Black school shoes with Velcro fasteners (No shoelaces please)
In Nursery and Reception, we have constant access to outdoor provision in all weather conditions so please send your child in wearing warm clothing, a waterproof jacket, hats, scarves, mittens etc or on hot days sun hats, wearing sun cream etc.
Each child will need a complete set of spare clothes including underwear and socks that is kept in school in a bag. Please make sure all items are labelled with the child’s name.
Jewellery
No earrings or other items of jewellery are to be worn for health & safety reasons.
Snack
Children have access to a range of healthy snacks – usually milk or water, a selection of fruit, breadsticks, crackers etc.
They have access to their own water bottles all day.
There is a small charge of £15 per term or £45 for the whole year.
This charge also enables us to buy ingredients for baking, special artwork and other small resources. If your child has any special dietary requirements, food allergies or intolerances please let us know as soon as possible.

Welcome to St Teresa’s RC Primary School. As the Early Years Leader, I am delighted to welcome you and your family to our school community. Our Catholic faith is at the heart of everything we do, and it shapes every part of our curriculum. Our school mission is “We grow together,” and we truly believe in building a caring community united by love and faith.
At St Teresa’s we recognise and celebrate that every child is unique and we are committed to providing the best possible start to a child’s educational journey encouraging every child to flourish and grow. Our Early Years setting offers a safe, vibrant, and exciting environment where children are supported and guided by our wonderful, caring staff.
The Early Years Foundation Stage is the bedrock for lifelong learning and we strongly believe that your child’s education is a partnership between parents, carers, Parish, Community and school.
We recognise the crucial role that early year’s education has to play in providing firm foundations upon which the rest of a child’s education is successfully based.
Play is an integral part of learning and this is at the heart of our early years curriculum. Our curriculum is designed to be dynamic, engaging, sparking curiosity and creativity. Our aim is to support the growth and development of every child, helping them to flourish spiritually, morally, socially, and culturally.
